Fortech Products is proud to announce its commercial launch of recycled lapping compound utilized in manufacturing automotive axle components. We are now offering the FORTECH ENVIROLAP FT225 RC series, available in various abrasive sizes.
Reducing Lapping Compound Waste
During the lapping operation, which requires precise finish requirements mating the ring and pinion gears, contaminants and iron particles build up in the lapping compound sump. These additional unwanted abrasives can lead to excessive material removal, surface damage, scoring, reduce cutting efficiency, increase the wear on the lapping plates, and make it difficult to achieve the desired precision and control during the gear lapping process.
In order to maintain the tight tolerances necessary for fuel efficiencies, longevity, and NVH performance, frequent replenishing of lapping compound is required, resulting in unnecessary waste that can be both costly and negatively impact our environment.
